Morning Meadow strives to create a rhythmical and well constructed day that allows a child to enter into a loving, home-like environment. Our days are based on the keen understanding that children learn best by doing, and that a young child's brain is in constant growth. The experiences children have at an early age will support brain structure by establishing either complex or simplistic neural pathways. Our days are therefore structured to support brain development, social skills, and to allow imagination to flourish. Imagination is the foundation for abstract thinking, which is used frequently during the elementary school years.

Our days follow the yearly seasons and festivals, as well as the rhythmical days of the week. It is our belief that children need to have healthy snacks to support healthy physical development, and therefore much care and thought is put into the meals provided for the children.

-Monday is coloring day and the children are served brown rice and carrots for snack.
-Tuesday is beeswax modeling day. Beeswax is a natural material made from 100% beeswax that children can manipulate into forms that are derived from  their imagination. It also helps their fine motor skill development. Tuesday's snack is oatmeal and oranges or apples.
-Wednesday is bread baking day, and the snacks are millet and sweet potatoes.
-Thursday is music garden. Children participate in songs and movement games, and play musical instruments, to enhance their auditory development as well as their physical development. The loaf of bread we baked on Wednesday is served for snack with seasonal fruit.
-Friday is wet-on-wet water color painting, which supports an understanding of color theory, as well as cultivates fine motor development. Whole wheat noodles and broccoli are served for snack.

Sewing, cooking, finger knitting, and felting are also experienced throughout the school year. Seasonal songs, games and finger plays are part of a morning circle time which encourages movement and singing. Stories and puppet shows that enhance attention span and imagination development are part of the weekly curriculum.

A typical day would begin at 8:30 where the children play outside (weather permitting).
Children play outside until 10:00 am, 10:15 is hand washing time.
10:30 is either story time or circle time.
Between 10:45 to 11:15 is snack.
11:15 to 12:15 is creative playtime.
12:15 to 12:30 is clean up time.
At 12:35, the children gather for the artistic activity of the day, once that has happened the children go back outside while a teacher stays inside to set up for lunch. Parents provide lunch.
Lunch is from 1:05 to 1:30. Dismissal is at 1:30 unless staying for extended care which is available until 3:00. Children in the younger class in aftercare will take a nap until dismissal at 3:00.
